Constructed of aluminum, the obverse consisting of a shield bearing a Croatian coat of arms topped by a raised inscription of “HRVATSKA” (“CROATIA”), perforated with four holes for sew-on attachment, unmarked, measuring 42 mm (w) x 56 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
Footnote: Established on 26 July 1941, the Croatian Light Transport Detachment was organized by Italy as an alternative Croatian foreign volunteer legion to be used on the Eastern Front. The unit, which wore a combination of Croatian uniforms with modified Italian insignia, was ultimately diverted to Bosnia for use in anti-Partisan operations.
