1914-15 Star (18664 PTE. G. APPLEGARTH.); British War Medal (2. LIEUT. G. APPLEGARTH.); Victory Medal (2. LIEUT. G. APPLEGARTH.); and Defence Medal (LT. G. APPLEGARTH 12 N. RIDING BTN. H.C). Naming is officially impressed on the First War trio and privately engraved on the DM, the latter inverted. Mounted to a suspension with swing bar pinback, as worn by the veteran, tarnishing on the BWM, edge nicks on the BWM and VM, contact marks, all but the Star with original ribbons, very fine.
Footnote: George Applegarth enlisted for First World War service as a Private (18664) with the Yorkshire Regiment. He entered the French theatre on August 26, 1915 and would later serve in the rank of Second Lieutenant with the Northumberland Fusiliers. His Index Card states that he was entitled to the 1914-15 Star, the British War Medal and the Victory Medal. Applegarth was recalled for service in the Second World War with the 12th (North Riding) Battalion.
