(Der Stahlhelm: Erinnerung und Bilder). A complete and well-preserved two-volume set of Der Stahlhelm: Erinnerung und Bilder (Der Stahlhelm: Memory and Photos). The first book is constructed of a card stock binding with a grey exterior, with 285 paginated interior pages. The first 164 pages feature a detailed history of the activities of Der Stahlhelm: Bund der Frontsoldaten (Der Stahlhelm: League of Front Soldiers), written in black Fraktur script. The remaining pages are filled with black-and-white photographs of Stahlhelm standards and insignia, with members at various events and on parade, as well as performing volunteer work for social welfare causes. It measures 190 mm (w) x 255 mm (h). Accompanying the book is the second volume in the set, similarly constructed of a card stock binding with a grey exterior and featuring 179 paginated pages featuring supplemental information on Der Stahlhelm, emphasizing the organization’s political activities and youth wing (Jugendstahlhelm). This is supplemented with black-and-white photographs of members of the organization as it gradually integrated into the Sturmabteilung (SA) and NSDAP, with many images of parades and paramilitary exercises. It also measures 190 mm (w) x 255 mm (h). The books were published in 1933 by Der Stahlhelm’s printing house in Berlin. Each volume demonstrates only minor, age-appropriate wear and discolouration, and the books are in an overall near extremely fine condition.
