Germany, DRK. A Red Cross Officer’s M43-Style Cap & Medical Pouch

(Deutsches Rotes Kreuz Einheitsfeldmütze M43 mit Tasche). A well-preserved pair of German Red Cross (DRK) accoutrements, including:

An Officer’s M43-style cap, constructed of dark grey wool twill. It is fully surrounded by decorative fold-down side panels in the style of a M43 field cap. Pinned onto the front of the paneling are two pebbled magnetic metal buttons. A length of silver aluminum wire fully trims the circumference of the crown, while the peak retains an insignia in the form of a bronze and enameled DRK badge measuring 22 mm (w) x 27 mm (h). The exterior features are completed with a protruding cardboard-reinforced visor, fully lined in dark grey wool. A dark grey leather sweatband surrounds the interior, and is secured in place with a row of machine stitching. The interior presents unmarked and with a complete slate-grey rayon liner. Measuring approximately 200 mm (w) x 255 mm (l) x 120 mm (h), the cap demonstrates minor issues consistent with age and use. This includes scratching of the peak insignia, deterioration of the sweatband, and some material fatigue to the wool. It is in an overall better than very fine condition.

Also included is a DRK mounted personnel medical pouch, constructed of multiple pieces of pressed brown leather stitched into a collapsible satchel-style bag. Dual integrated straps emanating from the lid descend over the outer edge and feature reinforced buttonholes meeting non-ferrous metal rivets set into the side for secure closure. The lid opens to reveal a spacious hollow interior. The lid bears a partially-legible black ink stamp in part reading “DEUTSCHES ROTES KREUZ”, with what appears to be a Berlin district mark. The reverse back panel features an additional two integrated straps to which a longer strap is affixed with functional magnetic metal spring catch for shoulder wear. It measures 170 mm (w) x 65 mm (l) x 195 mm (h). Minor material fatigue is evident to the leather, and is particularly evident at high-contact points. The pouch is in an overall near extremely fine condition.
