Latvia, Republic. A Rare Motorcycle Messenger Badge, c.1935

In silver, this rare badge presents a single flying wheel with a gilt motorcycle facing left through the center of the wheel, the reverse presents a screwpost and brass screwpost disc which is marked W. PRETS RIGA, the badge is suspended by a thin chain by an acorn and oak leaf cluster with 7V AP inscribed on the leaves denoting the regiment, reverse of the suspension presents a singular long vertical pin, the badge measures 67.3mm (w) x 21mm (h -exclusive of suspension), weighs 18.4 grams, link between chain and suspension missing and mended with wire, heavy gilt wear on suspension, dark patina, in overall very fine condition.
