Germany, Third Reich. A State Service Flag

(Reichsdienstflagge). An extremely well-preserved State Service Flag, constructed of a multi-coloured cotton-linen blended material, consisting of a red base, with three edges reinforced by multiple rows of machine stitching, the obverse with a black-and-white machine-embroidered NSDAP-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, with a central white disk bearing a black swastika highlighted with white and black trimming, the reverse with a mirrored depiction of the obverse features, stitched to the hoist edge is a reinforced white hollow tunnel through which is looped an attachment rope, the hoist edge is stamped with a black ink mark of “R. DIENSTFLG. 200 X 335” and a maker’s mark of “WFT”, the flag measures 329 cm (w) x 190 cm (h), minor patches of material fatigue are evident, in overall near extremely fine condition.
