An 1859 Austrian Johann Franz Kempen Fiftieth Year in the Army Medal - Bronze, obverse illustrating the left-facing bust of Johann Franz Kempen, surrounded by the inscription "JOHANN KEMPEN FREIHERR VON FICHTENSTAMM." and engraver marked "JAUNER K.K. HOF GRAVEUR", reverse with a coat-of-arms featuring three female figures surrounding a shield, the ribbon banner below inscribed "QUOD DIGNUM ET JUSTUM EST" (What is Right and Just), surrounded by the inscription "FUNFZIG JAHRE AN THAT UND EHRE REICH." and dated "1809 - 1859" below, 80.5 mm, bruised, light contact, green oxidation residue in the recessed areas, better than very fine.
Footnote: Johann Franz Kempen (June 26, 1793 in Pardubice, East Bohemia - November 29, 1863 in Schwarzau am Steinfeld, Lower Austria) was a officer in the Army of the Austrian Empire. The highest rank held by him was Lieutenant Field Marshal and in his retirement, an Artillery Officer.
