Russia, Imperial. An Order of St. George Ribbon Clasp with Miniature, c.1917

(Орден Святого Георгия). Instituted 26 November 1769. In finely toned silver, consisting of a rectangular clasp, overlaid on the front by a crossed sword and laurel branch, with a core composed of a period original length of ribbon, the reverse with a barrel hinge and horizontal sword pinback meeting a flattened catch, marked with a post 1908 silver kokoshnik mark of “84” for 875 silver content, with an unidentified makers mark, with a possibly wartime field made replacement miniature version of the decoration with a silver frame and obverse white enameled arms, 44.39 mm (w) x 19.12 mm (h), weighing 8.5 grams, very fine.
