Constructed of gilded and silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, around a central coastal artillery gun with its barrel raised and extending beyond the edge of the wreath, the reverse with a barrel hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked “SCHWERIN, BERLIN”, measuring 41.85 mm (w) x 54.65 mm (h), weighing 24.6 grams, with loss of gilt finish and some oxidation evident, in overall better than very fine condition.
