$1,181
(Schiffchen für Männer der Panzertruppe). An exceptionally well-preserved Heer Panzer EM/NCO’s overseas cap, constructed of black wool. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down side panels, gently scalloped at the front. It is flanked on each side by a single ventilation hole, both of which are reinforced with black-painted magnetic metal eyelets. Stitched onto the peak of the cap is an insignia in the form of a black rayon backer bearing a machine-embroidered silver-grey Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika. The eagle insignia measures 68 mm (w) x 28 mm (h). Stitched on the panelling directly beneath the eagle is a secondary insignia consisting of a machine-embroidered tricolour cockade, measuring 34 mm (w) x 34 mm (h). The cockade is set within a classic Panzer rose-pink soutache, which is looped through the reverse of the panels. The interior features a complete dark grey cotton blended liner. Stamped onto the crown is a black ink size stamp of “57”, a manufacture date of “1940”, and a mark of “LAGO, WIEN”, measuring approximately 290 mm (l) x 125 mm (h) when folded flat, a rare example of a Panzer overseas cap in near mint condition.
