(Gebirgsjäger-Bataillon 19 Bierkrug für Unteroffizier). A very well-preserved Gebirgsjäger-Bataillon 19 NCO’s commemorative stein, constructed of glazed light grey earthenware. It features a curved protruding handle to which is affixed a swivel hinge connecting to a pewter lid. The top of the lid bears raised Alpine imagery, including climbing equipment and traditional headwear. Hand-painted onto the side of the stein is a central multi-coloured Kempten coat of arms, circumscribed by an inscription of “ZUR ERINNERUNG AN DAS UNTEROFFIZIER-KORPS, GEBIRGS-JÄGER-BATL. 19” (“IN MEMORY OF THE NON-COMMISSIONED OFFICER CORPS, 19th GEBIRGSJÄGER BATTALION”). Also etched into the side of the stein near the upper part of the handle is a measurement of “1,L.” for one litre. Engraved onto the base is the logo of an unidentified maker. The interior of the stein presents plain. It measures 100 mm (w) x 250 mm (h) (inclusive of handle fixtures). It is free of chipping and demonstrates only minor wear to the glaze and oxidation of the pewter. The stein is in an overall extremely fine condition.
