Germany, Third Reich. A Wehrmacht Field Marshal’s Silver Picture Frame, by Zeitner, Berlin

(Wehrmacht Feldmarschall Bilderrahmen). This is a very scarce and well-preserved Wehrmacht Field Marshal’s picture frame, constructed of silver. The obverse bears a Wehrmacht-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, which in turn bears crossed Field Marshal’s batons. The reverse featured a preserved original cardboard backer with a metal hook for suspension. The backer is held in place by dual sliding clips at the top, and by dual lips at the bottom. The frame is marked by Zeitner, Berlin, adn 835 silver, measures 206 mm (w) x 301 mm (h). The glass face has been lost and age-appropriate tarnishing is evident throughout, and the frame is in a better than very fine condition.
