A presentation case for a Grand Cross Set of the Order of the Eagle of Este, constructed of a wood frame with a faux blue leather exterior, the obverse lid with a gold embossed Savoy crown, the interior with a padded black satin lid liner with an intact hinge cover, with a retractable slotted black doeskin medal bed, opening with a functional bronze snap button and dual magnetic metal hinges, unmarked, measuring 146 mm (w) x 267 mm (l) x 54 mm (h), accompanied by its period original case of issue, constructed of card stock with a blue exterior, unmarked, measuring 155 mm (w) x 280 mm (l) x 62 mm (h), material fatigue evidence to the outer case, otherwise in near extremely fine condition.
This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
