Prussia, Kingdom. An Order of the Red Eagle in Gold, III Class, c.1900

(Roter Adler Orden, III. Klasse in Gold). Instituted 12 June 1792 by King Friedrich Wilhelm II (III Class instituted 18 January 1810 by King Friedrich Wilhelm III). Constructed of 14 karat Gold with enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with white enameled arms, the obverse bearing a central white enameled medallion overlaid by a hand-painted Hohenzollern-style imperial eagle, the reverse bearing a central white enameled medallion overlaid by a gilt monogram of King Friedrich Wilhelm II, unmarked, measuring 38.50 mm (w) x 42.50 mm (h), weighing 13.5 grams, in extremely fine condition.
