(Nahkampfspange in Bronze). Constructed of bronzed zink, the obverse with a central Wehrmacht eagle clutching a mobile swastika, above a crossed bayonet and stick grenade, within a square oak leaf wreath with a bronzed magnetic metal backplate, with sun rays emanating from the centre of the left and right sides, flanked on each side by four oak leaves and two acorns, the reverse with a barrel hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a flat wire catch,designer marked “W.E. PEEKHAUS, BERLIN”, maker marked with the logo of Friedrich Linden, Lüdenscheid, measuring 96.90 mm (w) x 25.95 mm (h), weighing 34.7 grams, most of the bronze finish has been lost and oxidation is evident throughout, in overall very fine condition.
