Hungary, Kingdom. A Hungarian Army Russian Front Trench Art Shell

Constructed of brass, the rim carved into a scalloped edge, the sides bearing intricate hand-etched designs consisting of a central Hungarian coat of arms set within a laurel and oak leaf wreath, above an inscription of “EMLÉK OROSZORSZÁGBÓL 1942-1943” (“MEMENTO OF RUSSIA 1942-1943”), with both the top and bottom circumscribed by stylized etched borders, the base retaining legible calibre markings, measuring 120 mm (w) x 305 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
