Prussia, State. An Order of the Red Eagle, I Class Cross with Swords, c.1865

(Roter Adlerorden). In Gold and enamels, exhibiting the manufacturing characteristics of "WILM", swords are screwed in to body of order and slightly loose; these are hollow swords, textbook examples by maker "Godet, Berlin", added later, circa 1870-1880; cross is of overall superb quality manufacture, no chipping to enamels whatsoever, measuring 58.28mm x 63.63mm, in near mint condition; cross comes with a full length of original sash ribbon, slightly worn; an extremely rare cross in superb condition.
