Germany, NSFK. A NFSK Large Glider Pilot’s Badge

(Großes NSFK-Segelflugzeugführerabzeichen). Constructed of silvered magnetic iron with enamels, the obverse consisting of a circular oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by a NSFK insignia in the form of Icarus, overlaid by a mobile swastika and topped by a banner bearing an inscription of “NSFK”, overlaid by three white enameled gulls on a hollow background, the reverse with a barrel hinge and tapering vertical pinback meeting a flattened integrated catch, marked with an inscription of “EIGENTUM DES NS-FLIEGERKORPS” (“PROPERTY OF THE NS FLYERS’ CORPS), with a patent number of “29240”, measuring 45.52 mm (w) x 46.38 mm (h), weighing 24.8 grams, some oxidation is evident to the iron, in addition to chipping of the enamels, in overall very fine condition.
