Germany, Imperial. A Pilot’s Badge

(Flugzeugführerabzeichen). Constructed of a silvered brass alloy, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a German State Crown, with a raised central depiction of a monoplane flying over a rural landscape, the reverse with a raised barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked, measuring 44.96 mm (w) x 74.58 mm (h), weighing 37.8 grams, minor oxidation and loss of finish is evident, in overall near extremely fine condition.
