Germany, Wehrmacht. A Clasp to the 1939 Iron Cross I Class, Type II, by Godet

(Spange zum Eisernen Kreuz 1939 I. Klasse). Constructed of silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of a finely-detailed Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, on top of a trapezoidal plaque bearing a raised date of “1939”, a screwback version with a shaft and original backplate, topped by a stabilizing prong, maker marked with LDO code “L/50” for the Berlin firm of Godet, measuring 45.04 mm (w) x 31.09 mm (h), weighing 14.8 grams, minor oxidation is evident to the plaque, a rare screwback version in overall extremely fine condition.
