Constructed of gilded tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, with a central Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on top of crossed swords on a pebbled field, the reverse with a crimped barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked, measuring 38.16 mm (w) x 45.73 mm (h), weighing 30.9 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a card stock frame with a faux black leather exterior, the interior with a faux white leather liner bearing a LDO logo, with a slotted composite fibre medal bed, measuring 65 mm (w) x 65 mm (l) x 22 mm (h), minor oxidation and loss of finish is evident to the base, with material fatigue visible throughout the case, a rare version in overall better than very fine condition.
