Constructed of silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of a Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, set on top of a trapezoidal plaque bearing a raised date of “1939” on a pebbled background, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flattened catch, unmarked but with all of the characteristics of manufacture by B.H. Mayer, Pforzheim, measuring 44.14 mm (w) x 30.48 mm (h), weighing 10.1 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a heavy card stock frame with a faux black leather exterior liner, the lid bearing a silvered depiction of the decoration,the interior with a white rayon lid liner, with a slotted black velvet medal bed, opening with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release and a functional metal hinge, unmarked, measuring 66 mm (w) x 66 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), the clasp demonstrates evidence of catch repair and there is material fatigue to the case’s hinge cover, in overall near extremely fine condition.
