(Hausorden Ehrenkreuz, II. Klasse in Gold). Instituted 25 October 1869 by Prince Leopold III and Adolf Georg I. (1887-1890 issue). Constructed of Gold with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a Maltese Cross with a Gold frame and white enameled arms, the obverse bearing a central white enameled disc overlaid by a red enameled Lippe-Detmold rose, within a ring of blue enamels bearing a gilt inscription of “FÜR TREUE UND VERDIENSTE” (“FOR LOYALTY AND SERVICE”), on top of an eight-pointed radiant Gold star, the reverse bearing a central red enameled disc, overlaid by a Gold monogram of Prince Leopold III, on top of an eight-pointed radiant Gold star, the twelve o’clock arm with a fan suspension and loop connecting to a period original shortened length of neck ribbon, measuring 60.55 mm (w) x 69.26 mm (h), weighing 41.8 grams, in extremely fine condition.
