Oldenburg, Grand Duchy. A Friedrich August Cross, I Class, Screwback

(Friedrich August Kreuz I. Klasse). Instituted 24 September 1914 by Grand Duke Friedrich August. (1914-1918 issue). Constructed of blackened magnetic iron, consisting of a Cross Pattée, with its arms joined through the quadrants by a laurel wreath, the obverse bearing a central raised monogram of Grand Duke Friedrich August, the six o’clock bearing an institution date of “1914”, the twelve o’clock arm bearing a royal crown, the reverse with a central threaded lug, the twelve o’clock maker marked with the logo of an unidentified manufacturer, retaining a backplate and nut, the latter bearing a partially-legible patent number, unmarked, measuring 45.00 mm (w) x 44.86 mm (h), weighing 36.0 grams, with minor loss of paint evident, in near extremely fine condition.
