Germany, Wehrmacht. A Close Combat Clasp, Silver Grade, by Funcke & Brüninghaus

(Nahkampfspange in Silber). Constructed of silvered feinzink, the obverse consisting of a central square oak leaf wreath, topped by a Wehrmacht eagle clutching a mobile swastika, above a crossed bayonet and stick grenade over a magnetic metal backplate, flanked on each side by four sun rays and four oak leaves with two acorns, the reverse with a barrel hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked “F. & B. L.” for Funcke & Brüninghaus, Lüdenscheid, measuring 97.98 mm (w) x 26.85 mm (h), weighing 32.9 grams, with oxidation evident to the obverse of the backplate, in overall extremely fine condition.
