A group of four First War Austro-Hungarian cap badges, including a 1914-1917 campaign badge, constructed of zink, horizontal pinback, the reverse with an illegible maker’s marked, measuring 40 mm (w) x 30 mm (h), in very fine condition; a 1914-1915 Balkan Campaign badge, constructed of zink, diagonal pinback, the reverse maker marked “GURSCHNER, WIEN”, measuring 25 mm (w) x 35 mm (h), in very fine condition; a Zlota Lipa badge, constructed of silvered bronze, vertical pinback, unmarked, measuring 27 mm (w) x 40 mm (h), in near extremely fine condition; also including a Second War Italian Albanian Campaign badge, constructed of bronze with multi-coloured enamels, vertical pinback, unmarked, measuring 24 mm (w) x 29 mm (h), in near extremely fine condition.

 

This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
