Germany, Wehrmacht. A Commemorative Folding Knife with Letter Opener

(Wehrmacht Klappmesser mit Brieföffner). A unique pair of commemorative Wehrmacht blades, including a Heer Western Front veteran’s folding knife, constructed of a magnetic metal core with dual mother of pearl exterior fixtures, the obverse bearing an inscription of “ANDENKEN AN DIE WESTFRONT” (“MEMENTO OF THE WESTERN FRONT”), flanked by oak leaves and a Heer soldier in profile, featuring a retractable knife with a sharpened tip and lower edge, in addition to a retractable corkscrew, the former marked at the base “GARANTIE STAHL GERMANY”, measuring 92 mm (l), with minor oxidation evident to the metal features, in near extremely fine condition, and; a Luftwaffe letter opener, constructed of dark brown wood, featuring a hand-carved ribbed handle topped by a double-sided mobile swastika pommel, set above a finely-detailed double-sided Luftwaffe eagle crossguard, unmarked, measuring 225 mm in total length, with some wear evident to the seam of the handle and pommel, a unique commemorative piece in near extremely fine condition.
