Constructed of silvered bronze with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a Cross Pattée, the obverse with blue enameled arms and with a central white enameled disc set within a circular oak leaf wreath, the disc bearing Finnish and German flags with a Finnish national emblem, topped by dates “1941-1943”, circumscribed by inscriptions of “POHJOISRINTAMA” and “DIE NORDFRONT” (“THE NORTHERN FRONT” in both Finnish and German”), with a mobile swastika emanating from the quadrants, the latter bearing inscriptions of “PETSAMO, SALLA, KIESTINKI, UHTUA” on its arms, the reverse with a vertical pinback, unmarked, measuring 34.55 mm (w) x 34.40 mm (h), weighing 15.7 grams, in extremely fine condition.
