(Eisernes Kreuz 1914 II. Klasse für Nichtkämpfer mit Etui). Reinstituted 5 August 1914 by Kaiser Wilhelm II. (1914-1918 issue). Constructed of iron and silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central initial “W”, the six o’clock with a reinstitution date of “1914”, the twelve o’clock arm with a royal crown, the reverse with three central oak leaves, the six o’clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813”, the twelve o’clock arm with initials “FW” topped by a royal crown, the suspension loop bearing an illegible maker’s mark, measuring 42.88 mm (w) x 48.16 mm (h), weighing 14.4 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a light wooden frame with a faux dark purple leather exterior liner, the interior with a depressed purple felt medal bed, opening with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release and a functional metal hinge, unmarked, measuring 70 mm (w) x 82 mm (l) x 32 mm (h), extensive oxidation and material fatigue are evident to the core of the cross and the case, respectively, in overall fair condition.
