Germany, Imperial. A Prussian Air Gunner’s Badge

(Abzeichen Flugzeug-Fliegerschützen). Instituted 27 January 1918 (1918-1921 issue). Constructed of silver-plated brass, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by a bow tie ribbon, topped by a German State Crown, set around a finely-detailed eagle in mid-flight, clutching bullseye target in its talons, the reverse with a crimped barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, unmarked, measuring 46.02 mm (w) x 71.60 mm (h), weighing 18.6 grams, with only minor loss of silver finish evident to high-contact points, in overall extremely fine condition.
