(Einheitsfeldmütze M43 für Männer der Jägertruppe). A very well-preserved Heer Jäger EM/NCO’s M43 field cap, constructed of field-grey wool. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down side panels, scalloped at the front, offering optional ear and neck protection to the wearer. When not in use, the panels are rolled up and secured in place with two pebbled and grey-painted zink buttons which emanate from the right flap and meet an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left flap. Stitched onto the left of the panels is an insignia consisting of a field-grey wool base bearing a silvered zink alloy Jäger insignia in the form of three detailed oak leaves with a single acorn, measuring 58 mm (w) x 42 mm (h) as presented. Stitched onto the peak of the cap is an insignia consisting of a field-grey rayon trapezoid bearing a machine-embroidered silver-grey Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, set just above a tri-colour cockade. The peak insignia measures 62 mm (w) x 45 mm (h). Completing the exterior features is a protruding cardboard-reinforced visor, fully linden identical wool. A multi-piece silver-grey rayon liner encompasses the interior, with the crown bearing a black ink Reichsbetriebsnummer (RBN) of “0/0555/0043” for an unidentified manufacturer, and an additional size mark of “58”. It measures approximately 205 mm (w) x 245 mm (l) x 130 mm (h). Minor issues consistent with age and light field use are evident, and includes the loss of one of the Jäger insignia’s three reverse attachment prongs, some fatigue to the peak insignia, and some soiling of the interior liner. The cap is in an overall near extremely fine condition.
