(Spange zum Eisernen Kreuz I. Klasse mit Etui). Instituted 1 September 1939. (1940-1945 issue). Constructed of silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of a Wehrmacht eagle clutching perched on top of a wreathed mobile swastika, above a trapezoidal plaque bearing a raised date of “1939” on a pebbled background, the revere with a barrel hinge and flattened vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, unmarked but with the physical characteristics of manufacture by B.H. Mayer, Pforzheim, measuring 44.12 mm (w) x 30.53 mm (h), weighing 9.9 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a light wooden frame with a faux black leather exterior liner, the lid bearing a silver embossed depiction of the decoration, the interior with a white rayon lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a slotted black velvet medal bed, opening with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, unmarked, measuring 65 mm (w) x 67 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), neither the clasp nor the case demonstrate any damage or wear, a mint condition set which is impossible to upgrade.
