Germany, Luftwaffe. A Luftwaffe Flak Badge

(Flakkampfabzeichen der Luftwaffe). Constructed of silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, topped by a “lizard head” Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, around a central Flak 88 with its barrel raised and extending beyond the edge of the wreath, the reverse with a ball hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked but with all of the characteristics of the high-quality unknown maker version documented on pages 228-233 of Marc E. Garlasco’s “The Flak Badges” (2008), measuring 46.02 mm (w) x 67.64 mm (h) (inclusive of eagle), weighing 39.2 grams, an uncommon badge in extremely fine condition.
