Item #G49713

$505
(Waffen-SS Einheitsfeldmütze M43). A very well-preserved late-war Waffen-SS M43 Field Cap, constructed of field-grey wool. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down side panels, scalloped at the front, providing optional ear and neck protection to the wearer. When not in use, the panels are rolled up and secured in place at the front with two bakelite buttons emanating from the right flap, meeting dual reinforced buttonholes on the left flap. Completing the exterior features is a protruding cardboard-reinforced visor, with the reverse cardboard remaining exposed consistent with examples of late-war Dachau-produced Waffen-SS M43 caps. The interior is fully encompassed by a multi-piece, light-grey, cotton twill liner. It presents plain with the exception of a black ink size stamp of “56” on the crown. The cap measures approximately 170 mm (w) x 275 mm (l) x 130 mm (h). It demonstrates an outline throughout the peak indicating that a trapezoidal insignia was removed from the cap, with some additional soiling to the interior liner consistent with light usage. It is in an overall near extremely fine condition.
