Russia, Imperial. A Silver Rouble, 1818

(Currency, Coins). Antique. A circular coin constructed of silver. The obverse features a crowned double headed eagle with outstretched wings, with a shield on its chest and clutching a sceptre and globus cruciger in its talons. The eagle is encompassed by the inscription “МОНЕТА РУБЛЬ 1818”. The reverse bears an inscription in old cyrillic, topped with a crown and encompassed by a wreath of laurel and oak leaves tied with a ribbon in a bow at the bottom. The edge of the coin is inscribed in old cyrillic. Measuring 35.66mm (in diameter) and weighing 20.3 grams. With a lovely old patina, in very good, circulated condition.
