(Fallschirmjäger Knochensack in Sumpftarnmuster). A rare and extremely well-preserved Luftwaffe Fallschirmjäger camouflage jump smock, constructed of multiple pieces of light cotton cloth. The exterior of the smock is dyed in a classic Marsh Pattern (Sumpftarnmuster) camouflage, with a mottle consisting of a predominantly light brown base, overlaid by irregular green and dark brown shapes with blurred edges, and overlaid by consistent green vertical splinters. It features a low-set turned-down collar, reinforced along the reverse with machine-embroidered darts. The cuff of each sleeve has a vertical slit at the reverse, closing with a functional two-piece magnetic metal snap button arrangement for a fully adjustable closure. Each breast flap features two pockets, with the top pockets opening with functional diagonal non-magnetic metal zippers, both hidden by a patch of identical camouflaged cotton cloth. The lower pockets open with identical zippers set horizontally. All zippers retain fully intact brown leather pull tabs. Stitched onto the upper right breast flap is an insignia consisting of an olive-drab cotton base overlaid by a machine-embroidered silver-grey Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, measuring 85 mm (w) x 40 mm (h) overall. The breast flaps close with five brown bakelite buttons on the right flap meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left flap, with the latter hidden under the smock’s material. Both the right and left sides bear hidden slits with three vertically-arranged eyelets for the accommodation of a belt hanger, with both slits closed with integrated straps featuring functional magnetic metal snap buttons. Completing the exterior features are a reverse flap on the right side, secured in place with two brown bakelite buttons, set just above a small pocket, and an integral strap on the reverse left side. The interior presents plain, and has two integral cotton drawstrings flanking the waistband. Stamped onto the upper left breast flap is a Reichsbetriebsnummer (RBN) of “0/1337/0015” for an unidentified manufacturer, as well as a manufacture date of “XII/44”. It measures approximately 560 mm across the shoulders, with an arm length of 600 mm, and an overall body length of 940 mm. It demonstrates only minor issues consistent with age and use, including patches of material fatigue to the exterior material (particularly the upper left arm and back), slight oxidation of the metal fixtures, and small spots of soiling to the exterior. This rare smock is in an overall near extremely fine condition.
