(Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz). Constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, with a central Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on top of crossed swords on a pebbled field, the reverse with an integral barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting an integral catch, unmarked, measuring 36.68 mm (w) x 44.30 mm (h), weighing 19.9 grams, accompanied by its period original package of issue, constructed of field-grey paper stock, the exterior bearing an inscription of “VERWUNDETEN-ABZEICHEN SILBER” and a maker’s mark of “STEINHAUER & LÜCK, LÜDENSCHEID”, measuring 60 mm (w) x 105 mm (h), retaining an original wax paper insert, the badge demonstrating age-appropriate loss of finish but with no damage, in overall better than very fine condition.
