The instruction manuals for how to serve on board a Kriegsmarine ship were handwritten by Matrosen-Obergefreiter (private 1st class of the Kriegsmarine) Rolf Lichtblau during his training to become a sailor. They include dress regulations, rules of conduct, as well as instructions on how to perform certain tasks. Several pages show drawn and coloured signal flags and their meanings.
The two manuals include 46 and 50 handwritten pages, respectively, measuring 148 mm (w) x 207 mm (h) and 175 mm (w) x 224 mm (h), presenting light scuffing and minor fraying of the covers, and most of the pages in one manual having come loose, yet undamaged, remaining near very fine and better than very fine.
Included is an official document from the Command of the 7th Minesweeper Flotilla in English, Norwegian, and German, stating that Lichtblau cleared mines in the waters of Norway between May 24 and November 30, 1945.
Measuring 210 mm (w) x 294 mm (h), presenting multiple folding creases, creasing, and minor fraying, remains fine.
