Constructed of silvered zink with multi-coloured enamels and paint, the obverse consisting of a circular laurel leaf wreath, around a white painted disc overlaid by a German national eagle clutching a cogwheel, in turn bearing a HJ insignia, topped by an inscription of “GAUSIEGER”, flanked by a date of “1944”, the reverse with a ball hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked “G. BREHMER, MARKNEUKIRCHEN”, measuring 49.38 mm (w) x 47.25 mm (h), weighing 23.2 grams, with small chips evident to the obverse paint, in near extremely fine condition.
