(Einheitsfeldmütze M43 für Männer der Waffen-SS). A very well-preserved Waffen-SS EM/NCO’s Dachau-style M43 field cap, constructed of field-grey wool. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down side panels, scalloped at the front, providing optional ear and neck protection to the wearer. When not in use, the panels are rolled up and secured in place at the front with two field-grey bakelite buttons emanating from the right flap and meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left flap. The peak demonstrates an outline consistent with the removal of a trapezoidal insignia. Completing the exterior features is a protruding card stock-reinforced visor, lined in identical wool on the obverse and presenting exposed on the reverse. The interior is fully encompassed by a multi-piece grey cotton-blended herringbone twill (HBT) liner. It is unmarked with the exception of a black ink size mark of “56” stamped onto the crown. The cap measures approximately 190 mm (w) x 255 mm (l) x 140 mm (h). Slight exterior soiling highlighted by the missing peak insignia is evident, and there is minor creasing visible to the exposed underside of the visor core. The cap is in an overall near extremely fine condition.
