Germany, NSDAP. A 1936 Gau Hessen-Nassau NSDAP Old Guard Medal

(NSDAP Gau Hessen-Nassau Ehrenzeichen). Constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with horizontal pinback, the obverse bearing a raised figure holding a sword and shield, surrounded by raised inscriptions of “RHEIN” and “MAIN”, the reverse with a central raised inscription of “DAS ALTE FÜHRERKORPS DER NSDAP” (“THE OLD LEADERSHIP CORPS OF THE NSDAP”), circumscribed by a raised inscription of “TREFFEN HESSEN-NASSAU 1936” (“HESSEN-NASSAU MEETING 1936”), the obverse with an unidentified maker’s mark, measuring 36.06 mm in diameter, weighing 21.2 grams, in near extremely fine condition.
