Hardcover, brown cloth cover, with an illustration of an NSDAP official courtesy of the U.S. Army (captured war art collection) on the front cover, entitled "Cloth Insignia of the NSDAP and SA", by Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) John R. Angolia, First Edition, copyrighted by the author in 1985, designed by Roger James Bender, published by R. James Bender Publishing of San Jose, California, typeset by Clyborne Typographics and Perez Productions, printed in the United States of America, ISBN 0-912138-33-5. It begins with an Acknowledgements, with the book itself divided into two sections: Cloth Insignia of the NSDAP (pages 5 to 116) and Cloth Insignia of the SA (pages 117 to 335). Angolia defines and illustrates the various uniforms (ceremonial and service) and their appropriate headwear, along with the collar tabs, shoulder boards, armbands, brassards, sleeve insignia, cuff titles, lanyards, musician swallow's nests, and other items created. He also discusses the various patterns and the dates they were established. Not only does Angolia detail each item, but through the use of period photographs, he shows many of the items worn by members of each organization. The book contains 336 pages of detailed text, line drawings, charts and photographs, printed in black ink, with spot colour added to select line drawings and photographs between pages 3 and 96, and between pages 178 and 207, on a coated white paper stock, measuring 158 mm (w) x 235 mm (h) x 22.5 mm (d). It exhibits very light scuffing on the cover, the pages within remaining pristine. "Cloth Insignia Of The NSDAP And SA" by Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) John R. Angolia remains one of the definitive publications for political and SA insignia. Near extremely fine.
