(Reichsfeuerwehr-Ehrenzeichen, II. Klasse). Instituted 22 June 1936 by Wilhelm Frick. (1936-1945 issue). Constructed of silvered bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Geneva Cross, the obverse with white enameled arms overlaid by stylized red flames and a central white enameled disc bearing a black mobile swastika, with its arms joined through the quadrants by a ring bearing an inscription of “FÜR VERDIENSTE IM FEUERLÖSCHWESEN” (“FOR MERIT IN FIREFIGHTING”), unmarked, measuring 43.74 mm (w) x 47.34 mm (h), weighing 17.2 grams, with minor flecking and loss of finish evident to the enamel and cross, respectively, in overall better than very fine condition.
