Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original tri-fold ribbon, the obverse with a leftward-facing profile of Grand Duchess Alice of Hesse, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse with oak leaf branches overlaid by banners bearing an inscription of “ASSOCIATION OF GERMAN GOVERNESSES”, maker marked “BOWLES”, measuring 23.68 mm in diameter, weighing 7.1 grams, in better than very fine condition.
