Germany, Wehrmacht. A Tropical Field Gun Barrel Cover, by Greve & Güth

(Feldkanone Fassabdeckung). An unissued Wehrmacht tropical field gun barrel cover, constructed of an olive-drab cotton-based canvas cylinder, with the tip completing in a similar olive-drab twill cover, the rim with a hollow channel through which is looped a grey cotton drawstring emanating from both ends to tie together for a secure fixture to the barrel, the interior stamped with a maker’s mark of “GREVE & GÜTH, GÜTERSLOH, 1942” in clear black ink, measuring 254 mm (w) x 605 mm (l) when folded flat, in near mint condition.
