Instituted 15 May 1941. (1941-1945 issue). Constructed of gilded bronze with enamels, consisting of a Croatian Cross with white enameled arms, the obverse featuring a central raised medallion with a white enameled field overlaid by a gilt Crown of King Zvonimir, with gilt trefoil designs radiating out from the centrepiece across each arm, the reverse bearing a central gilt inscription of “BOG I HRVATI” (“GOD AND CROATIA”), with the six and twelve o’clock arms bearing gilt dates of “1076-1941”, with a barrel hinge and flattened vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, with a rounded guard inset into the six o’clock arm to mitigate the risk of enamel damage from the pinback, unmarked by with the physical characteristics of manufacture by Braća Knaus of Zagreb, measuring 50.05 mm (w) x 50.94 mm (h), weighing 29.5 grams, minor flecking and scratching of the enamels is evident to both the obverse and reverse, with the nine o’clock arm of the latter demonstrating two chips with possible repair, in overall better than very fine condition.
