(Schiffchen für Männer der Küstenartillerie). An extremely well-preserved Kriegsmarine Coastal Artillery EM/NCO’s overseas cap, constructed of thick field-grey wool. It is fully surrounded by fold-down side panels which are gently scalloped at the front. Stitched onto the peak is an insignia consisting of a dark green rayon backer bearing a machine-embroidered bright yellow Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, measuring 65 mm (w) x 26 mm (h) overall. Directly below the eagle, the cap is affixed with a second insignia consisting of a dark green rayon diamond bearing a machine-embroidered tri-colour cockade. Measuring 35 mm (w) x 35 mm (h), the cockade is surrounded by a golden-yellow embroidered soutache. The interior is fully encompassed by a multi-piece dark grey cotton-rayon blended liner. A faint maker’s mark reading “KNAGGE & PEITZ, MÜNCHEN” is visible on the right side, set just above a size mark of “56”. The cap measures approximately 280 mm (l) x 130 mm (h) when folded on a flat surface. Minor material fatigue is evident to the exterior wool, and includes a small moth nip near the back of the right side of the panels, in addition to slight interior soiling. It is in an overall extremely fine condition.
