France; Four-piece construction, silver with white, light blue and dark blue enamelled insignia, mounted to a silver eight-pointed star base, unmarked, 89.5 mm x 89.8 mm, vertical pinback, crazing evident in the white and light blue enamels on the upper arm on the insignia, otherwise the enamels are intact, extremely fine. Footnote: The Academic Society of Letters, Arts and Sciences was founded in 1915 and recognizes men and women of all nationalities, who have distinguished themselves in the arts, performing arts, architecture, physical and medical sciences and letters.
