Germany, Feuerschutzpolizei. An EM/NCO’s Overseas Cap

(Feuerschutzpolizei dunkelblaues Schiffchen für Mannschaften). An extremely well-preserved Feuerschutzpolizei (Fire Protection Police) EM/NCO’s overseas cap, constructed of dark navy blue wool. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down side panels with frontal scalloping. Stitched onto the left side of the crown is an insignia constructed of dark navy blue rayon bearing a silver-grey machine-embroidered Polizei emblem consisting of a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, in turn overlaying an oval oak leaf wreath. The insignia measures 40 mm (w) x 34 mm (h) overall. A malleable reinforcement is set through a hollow channel running lengthwise through the crown. The interior is fully encompassed by a multi-piece black rayon liner. Unmarked, the cap measures approximately 270 mm (l) x 120 mm (h) when folded on a flat surface. The crown reinforcement has been broken in the centre, and the wool demonstrates slight material fatigue. It is in an overall near extremely fine condition.
