Germany, Ordnungspolizei. An Ordnungspolizei Long Service Medal, III Class for 8 Years, with Case

(Dienstauszeichnung der Polizei III. Klasse für 8 Jahre). Instituted 30 January 1938. (1938-1945 issue). Constructed of silvered bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with horizontal pinback, the obverse bearing a central raised Ordnungspolizei insignia in the form of an oval oak leaf wreath overlaid by a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a central raised number “8”, circumscribed by an inscription of “FÜR TREUE DIENSTE IN DER POLIZEI” (“FOR FAITHFUL SERVICE IN THE POLICE”), unmarked measuring 38.12 mm in diameter, weighing 24.6 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of two pieces of olive-drab card stock, the interior with a red felt liner, unmarked, measuring 45 mm (w) x 100 mm (l) x 15 mm (h), with minor loss of finish evident to the medal, in overall near extremely fine condition.
